Making the Moment more Real – and Embarrassing
November 29 2011With millions of fans, an award-winning website and a best-selling book, Awkward Family Photos has become an icon of cringe-worthy moments and embarrassing memories. And now the popular humor website has made its way into the greeting card aisle. Awkward Family Photos and Recycled Paper Greetings have collaborated to turn these hilariously uncomfortable portraits into greeting cards.
The hugely popular site was started by two friends, Mike and Doug, after Mike saw an awkward vacation photo in his parents’ house. Realizing there were probably plenty more where that came from, the friends decided to create a place where everyone could share their uncomfortable moments. And with that, AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com was born. The site quickly took off and today it receives millions of hits daily and submissions from around the world.
“We are very excited to be working with Awkward Family Photos to bring its unique brand of humor to our greeting card aisles,” said Sue Buchta, President of Papyrus-Recycled Greetings, Inc. “Anyone that has visited the site knows that the photos themselves are hysterical and our new offering of cards is the perfect way to share a laugh while connecting with family and friends.”
Now fans of the Website can share their joy of these hilarious images with a card line that celebrates the awkward in every situation. From ill-advised poses to the always unpredictable actions of furry friends, the card line has something for everyone.
Awkward Family Photos has also created an Awkward Family Pet Photos book, for which they have recently started their book tour. To learn more about the book, you can watch Mike and Doug’s appearance on Good Morning America.
